In 2025, SmartSweets took their health conscious mentality to the next level by partnering with rePurpose Global to fund plastic recovery. Through their Plastic Recovery Pledge with rePurpose Global, SmartSweets commits to removing thousands of pounds of plastic waste every year, taking responsibility for their environmental footprint and working towards resolving the plastic pollution crisis, while continuing to grow their presence on store shelves across North America.

SmartSweets took their commitment to doing better a step further with rePurpose Global by committing to a Plastic Recovery Pledge in 2025. Through this initiative, SmartSweets funds the recovery of 200,000 pounds of plastic waste from hotspot pollution areas annually — a bold move for a fast-growing snack brand in a plastic-heavy industry.

This pledge helps intercept plastic waste before it can enter our oceans or ecosystems, while also supporting waste workers in regions without reliable waste management infrastructure. At one impact project site, Nuevo Ciclo in Colombia, recovered waste is turned into lumber, creating schools and playgrounds for the surrounding community. In partnership with rePurpose Global, SmartSweets is helping to clean up plastic waste and drive tangible environmental change — making an impact that goes beyond their product line.
