Aora MÉXICO partners with rePurpose Global to tackle beauty industry’s plastic waste problem

Cosmetics Design goes behind the scenes of the partnership between Aora México — a 100% plastic-free luxury color cosmetics brand — and rePurpose Global, featuring direct commentary from both Svanika Balasubramanian and Aora co-founder Nour Tayara. The piece digs into what makes the collaboration distinct: Aora's packaging uses tin, aluminum, and wood entirely in place of plastic, and through rePurpose Global's Plastic Negative certification, every product sold funds the removal of nine times its weight in plastic waste from nature — a direct response to the UN statistic that for every plastic product recycled globally, nine are not. It frames the partnership as a challenge to the wider beauty industry, where 95% of packaging is still made from plastic, and positions Aora's #plasticcouldnever ethos as a model for what more aggressive sustainability commitments could look like at scale.
