Gimme Seaweed Partners with rePurpose Global to Combat Plastic Pollution

Waste360 covers the partnership between Gimme Seaweed — the pioneer organic seaweed snack brand — and rePurpose Global, formalized through a Plastic Recovery Pledge targeting ocean-bound plastic removal in Indonesia. The piece traces the natural logic of the tie-up: Gimme was already the first seaweed snack brand to eliminate plastic trays from its packaging, and seaweed itself is one of the few farmed foods with a net positive environmental impact. Through the partnership, Gimme funds two of rePurpose Global's Indonesia projects — Project Segara Kerthi in Bali, protecting coral reef ecosystems home to six of the world's seven marine turtle species, and Project Laut Yang Tenang in West Java, building new collection and recycling systems for ocean-bound plastic — while also supporting the livelihoods of waste workers in both regions.
