A press release covering the results of the inaugural Plastic Recovery July — an industry-wide campaign run by the Pet Sustainability Coalition in partnership with rePurpose Global. Fourteen pet industry brands came together over the course of one month to collectively fund the recovery of over 92,000 pounds of plastic waste from coral reefs, mangrove forests, and the Himalayan foothills across Kenya, India, and Indonesia, supporting more than 1,070 waste workers in the process. The campaign reframes the widely-known "Plastic Free July" around what's actually actionable today — verified plastic recovery — in an industry that generates over 300 million pounds of plastic packaging annually, with up to 99 percent ending up in landfills, oceans, or nature.
