It gives me immense pleasure to share an important milestone in rePurpose Global’s journey.
Effective today, Manika, our current Chief Operating Officer, will step into the role of Chief Executive Officer. At the same time, after almost a decade since founding rePurpose, I’ll be transitioning into a new role as Chief Circularity Officer, where I’ll focus my full energy on long-term innovation across the circular economy.
Since the successful launch in 2025 of our Packaging Compliance software platform, we are seeing the packaging sustainability landscape accelerate at an unprecedented pace. New regulations, such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), are emerging across markets every single day, fundamentally changing how companies must think about packaging, reporting, and responsibility.
This shift is creating a new operating reality for brands: one that’s more complex, more urgent, and ultimately, more consequential. We see this moment as a powerful opportunity to expand our work with private companies - using this regulatory momentum to unlock deeper, more meaningful impact at scale.
Over the past 2 years, Manika has demonstrated, with consistency, that she is uniquely equipped to lead us through this moment of ambition and growth. She has a rare ability to bring focus amidst complexity - aligning teams, organizing efforts, and motivating everyone toward a shared north star. She consistently brings out the best in the people around her.
Manika truly embodies the core values of rePurpose. She is audacious with a big vision for the role we can play in changing the world, while balancing that ambition with deep empathy for every person she works with. Above all, she leads with integrity. She has earned my complete confidence and the unequivocal trust of the entire team.
Meanwhile, I am excited for my new and broader responsibilities ahead. The world around us is changing extremely rapidly. Politically and across the sustainability landscape, today’s reality looks very different from even a year ago. Stepping into the role of Chief Circularity Officer allows me to focus more deeply on what first inspired me to start this journey: shaping new markets, and building partnerships that accelerate circular solutions at scale.
I will also be taking on a deeper role in our policy advocacy efforts and in supporting emerging entrepreneurs across the circular economy through my role at the Innovation Alliance for a Global Plastics Treaty (IAGPT). Now more than ever, I feel a critical sense of urgency to bring policymakers and private companies across countries together - to find common ground and drive collective action on the existential challenges we face.
For all of us at rePurpose, our commitment to the company’s founding mission remains steadfast. We believe solving the plastic crisis is not only possible - it’s within reach in our lifetime. To do this well, we need to think beyond the independent opportunities in recycling and regulatory compliance. Our vision is to bring the upstream and downstream of the circular economy together into one coherent system - where design, production, consumption, and recovery work as one engine.
That’s why we’re building a leading packaging sustainability software platform that enables companies to easily measure, report and act on their packaging footprint. Over the years, rePurpose has partnered with 500+ global brands across 40+ regions globally. Last month, we reached the incredible milestone of 100 million lbs of plastic waste recovered from across 11 countries. We have brought waste management as a dignified human right to millions of people around the world, and we have doubled the income for over 2000 workers.
We are deeply proud of what we have achieved so far, but we’re only just getting started. For the company, and for this sector, there is much work to be done.
I am deeply grateful for your commitment to investing in a better future for our planet, and look forward to continuing our work together.
With gratitude,
Svanika Balasubramanian
Co-Founder & Chief Circularity Officer
